Good afternoon, 2011-15 IMC "Mappings" participants and others who might join us in 2016—
As you might know, we have held "Mappings" sessions at the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 International Medieval Congresses at Leeds [IMC]. After five years of very solid attendance and participation, “Mappings” has become a go-to component at the IMC.
The 13th Symposium of the International Coronelli Society for the Study of Globes will take place from September 24 to September 26, 2015 in cooperation with the Mathematisch-Physikalischer Salon in Dresden (Germany).

Encounters and Translations: Mapping and Writing the Waters of the World
Friday, 3rd and Saturday, 4th June 2016

The symposium is open to all interested in the subject and will particularly give junior academics the opportunity to present their work in map history to the wider community. ISHMap is the first and only international academic society whose objectives are to advance the study of the history of maps in all societies and over all periods of time.
No registration fee - all welcome!
The second paprer of the "Spring Lectures in the History of Cartography", organized by the CIUHCT in Lisbon, will be given by Jean-Marc Besse, who will give a talk about "Early modern atlases: graphic forms and cognitive practices" on July 19th at 6pm in the National Library of Portugal in Lisbon
The CIUHCT organizes also in this year the "Spring Lectures in the History of Cartography", which will take place at the National Library of Portugal in Lisbon.
On Thursday, 21th May 2015 Sandra Sáenz-López Pérez (Madrid) will speak about Beatos-Maps: "Subiecta formula picturarum demonstrat: La imagen del mundo en los manuscritos de los Beatos".
The IV international workshop about Iberian map history, which is organised by GEHC (Grup d’Estudis d’Història de la Cartografia, University of Barcelona) and CIUHCT (Centre for History of Science and Technology, University of Lisbon) will take place in Barcelona from 4th to 6th March 2015.
