Has there been a geographical trend in the development of newspaper maps?

The fourth aspect, the regional trends, has already partly been described in table 2. Within the scale aspect it was analysed whether a spatial shift had occurred. Generally this proved to be a nice case of the ‘distance decay’ function: the further away from the Netherlands the smaller the number of maps. Table 4 gives some further information:
