Budget 1990
The budget for 1990 has to be cut from 33 000 to 25 000 SEK. (Decision by the council).
To realize our activities for 1990, it is planned to try to increase the revenues 1990 with advertising in the ISOM. TS explores the interest from companies involved in mapmaking. MC members will contribute with a list of adresses which is sent to TS. AD to assist.

Activity plan 1991-1992
A draft of the activity plan 1991-92 was presented and approved. An addition is, that MC should also try to arrange education for keen photogrammetrists outside Scotland and Scandinavia to get more and special experience.

Projects
Symbol Working Group
The final proposal of the ISOM was presented and discussed:

The changes to working group's proposal:
- Road classification is only a matter of road width and maintenance. "Asphalt", "public" etc. have been omitted from the definitions.
- Water tank omitted.
- Combination of yellow and uncrossable marsh disapproved.
- Combination of open land and stony ground disapproved.
- Boulder field dimensions increased to 0.3 - 0.8.

The decision for the best screens for the new symbols "Cultivated land" and "Rough open with scattered trees" will be taken by the working group after having recieved the sample maps.

The final draft will be prepared, a sample map added and sent to the members as soon as possible. Deadline for presentation to the council: May, 1st 1990

Survey Comparison
This project has only attached 8 surveyors. Due to this small number and the financial situation a less expensive way than conventional printing may be the result. Two maps are already printed in Finland.

Courses/Conferences
The course in Hamburg will be organized from March 23 to 25. PA Troseth (NOR) will be asked by TK to demonstrate Illustarator 88. Otherwise FN will come on Friday evening. TB may participate in the case of FN's absence.
The mapping course in Moscow is unclear in the moment. The last letter from Russia has been rather pessimistic (problems with organisation/participants). The costs are budgeted with 8000 SEK.

Mark Smith is requesting for a clinic to be hold in Canada in spring 1991. Date and place to be fixed with MS.

Ai IOF instructor is also requested for a mapping course in Spain, April 9 - 11 1990.

Instructor's conference 1991
The Czechoslovakian Federation invited MC to held the conference at the weekend before WOC in the WOC area. TB will contact the organizer. MC will keep Bavaria or Austria as reserves.

Other Business
DPC activities often include mapping courses. In a letter Cilve Allen, chairman of DPC, asks for MC's agreement for a course in Yugoslavia.
As long as ISOM are followed, MC does agree with the proposal of two Austrian mappers. However, MC is worried about the large variety of the IOF standards which exist in some countries and suggests close cooperation between MC and DPC regarding instructors for mapping courses especially in countries with few experience.

World Cup
Short distance competitions will probably require larger scaled orienteering maps. MC will strictly follow the idea, now included in the IOSM, not to produce special maps and raise the amount of details, but only to enlarge the 1:15000 map.
MC also received copies of the correspondence between MC member Mark Smith and the WC organizers in Canada/USA 1990. This monitoring task will be continued the next years in countries with a small number of experienced mappers.

Next Meeting
Due to the absence of three members at congress 1990, the next meeting of MC was fixed to August 11/12 1990 at Steinkjer, Norway. For the meeting in winter 1991, Mark Smith has sent an invitation to Toronto/Canada.
