Project „Multimedial History of Hungary and Finland on CD-ROM” Principles of Organisation to settle final design

05 July 2001

General remarks

There should be an optimal result in arriving at minimal costs. Therefore the Fraunhofer Institute should get only those tasks which are really necessary to be made by this institute. These necessary tasks are regarded as those that are evident to create an homogeneous appearance of the project. To these items belongs the following: the most important navigation pages as well as the model of the text pages and the illustration pages. Additional works are to make by Jyväskylän Yliopisto. That is to say the cover, chronology, encyclopaedia as well as all the other pages which are to be arranged in an analogues way to those pages formed by the Fraunhofer Institute e. g. map-pages. The character of the system that was arranged by the “work design”. should, of course, remain in all pages.

The design made by the Fraunhofer Institute and Jyväskylän Yliopisto will be transformed in Rostock by Mr. Ebert into the so called “work design”. This is a basis for the students in Rostock on which they can transform the historical contents (e.g. texts, pictures) into the appropriate shape.

Concrete division of work

The Fraunhofer Institute takes over the design of following pages:
Position 1: Revising of the page “Anfang”/ “Start”.
Position 2: Recreation of the page “Epochen”/”Epochs”. Here appears the epoch timeline (the so called first timeline).
Position 3: Create the timeline for one epoch as model for the other ones (the actual table of content of an epoch – the so called second timeline.)
Position 4: Revising of the text page.
Position 5: Revising of the illustration page.

Jyväskylän Yliopisto takes over the design of following pages and elements:
Position 1: Arranging the cover (this is the front page of the project and the CD-ROM-Cover.) The old version made by the Fraunhofer Institute is to be replaced by a new one.
Position 2: Impressum
Position 3: “Vorwort”/”Preface”. It was called “Einführung”/”Introduction” until now.
Position 4: Chronology. Here the old version can be used.
Position 5: Encyclopaedia. Here again the old version can be used.
Position 6: Model for the map-pages. Here the new version of the illustration page should be used.
Position 7: Buttons on the epoch page (first timeline) as long as there are no new suggestions of the Fraunhofer Institute.
Position 8: Animated gifs to change between text and illustration page.

Timecourse

The model documents of the revised design has to be handed in to the Fraunhofer Institute until 13. July 2001.
Completion: 06. August 2001.

Jyväskylän Yliopisto get the revised design with comments of Mr. Fischer and Mr. Pápay at 14. August 2001. The work on the positions 1, 5 and 8 do not need these documents so they can be worked on already. The completion of the Position 8 (animated gifs): 08. August 2001. Completion of Position 4, 5, 6 and 7 : 30. August 2001.

Completion of the “work design” for the text and illustration pages: 20. August 2001.
Completion of the “work design” for the navigation pages: 30. August 2001.
