2. ICA Joint seminar Madrid, 6-8 July, 2005.
This seminar was timed to take place immediately prior to the main conference in A Coruńa. The following commissions participated:

The theme of the seminar was Internet-Based Cartographic Teaching and Learning: Atlases, Map Use, and Visual Analytics. An excellent publication, edited by Jesus Reyes and Laszlo Zentai (University of Budapest) was produced, including the 38 papers presented in this event.

3. Barbara Bartz Petchenik Award 2005
The theme of the competition was "Many nations, one world" and a total of 128 works were submitted from 29 countries of three continents (America, Asia and Europe).

4. New book of children's world maps.
"Children Map the World" includes 100 selected maps from the last 10 years of the Barbara Petchenik Children's Map Competition and is now available in bookstores.
The book, published by ESRI, was very well publicised at their User Conference in San Diego this July. In his opening speech, Jack Dangermond spoke about the book against a backdrop of children's maps projected on large screens. In the "Map Gallery" located on the top floor of the Convention Centre they had a spectacular display of the maps from the book. The main title of the display was "Maps of our Children's World" with sub-groupings of the maps under topics such as Cartographic Representations, Our Changing World, and Children's Awareness of Their Environment etc.
At the "Meet the author" book signing event, Jeet Atwal from Carleton University represented the editors of the book.

5. 10 year conference papers CD/website
The website commemorating the 10th Anniversary of our Commission is practically ready: there are only some details to add (welcome, help), but the content is finished. Our colleague Jesus Reyes placed to the Web the actual version of the site; you can find it at the next address: lazarus.elte.hu/ccc/10years/10years.htm. This site is not public yet, but you can visit it and if you find any omission, problem, etc in your paper please send it to the jesus@ludens.elte.hu address. Now Jesus is organizing the production of the CD, our plan is to send a copy for the authors and others ICA representatives before next December.
6. Brisbane, 2006.
There will be a joint symposium with the Commission for Geography Education of the International Geographical Union to be held in Brisbane in June 2006.
